Chronic Medicine

Chronic medication includes medicines for the treatment of life threatening illnesses on an ongoing basis. The chronic medicine benefit is managed by means of formularies or medicine lists. These formularies are listed in the table below per chronic condition.

Medicines that are not covered as preferred products by a specific formulary will not be reimbursed in full and may attract a co-payment as specified in the registered rules of the relevant medical fund option. Medicines that are covered as preferred products by or included in a specific formulary may still be subject to reference pricing e.g. NRP (Namibia Reference Price) as indicated in the lists below.
